From 1936 Ernest, Gladys, and son Tony Rodman were the first residents here. It was the concatenation of their names Ern-Gla-Tone that gave the bungalow it’s original name.
Ernest Edward Rodman had married Gladys Evelyn Ellison in Gloucester in 1924 and their son Tony was born in 1926. During the Second World War Ernest was employed as a plate layer and an ARP with a decontamination Squadron.
Son Tony Ernest Stanley married Margaret Snow at Norton in 1953 and they also initially lived at Ernglatone before settling at Court Gardens where they remained throughout their lives.
Ernest and Gladys remained at Ernglatone for the remainder of their lives with Ernest dying in November 1979 and Gladys in February 1982.
In 1985 the property had been renamed Springwell and Beryl Dorothy Osborne had moved in and she was still here in 2002.
